Preceptors for the last AGPCNP rotation

Kent State's AGPCNP rotation page looks for a nurse practitioner or physician from primary care, internal medicine, long-term care or express care. A clinical nurse specialist or physician assistant may precept with faculty approval, and any specialty preceptor needs that approval as well.

Accreditation adds a timing rule: twelve months in the adult-gerontology population and the APRN role before precepting. Kent State's recruiting page adds an unrestricted, current license and certification plus the employer's permission. The recommended ratio is two students at most for a preceptor who has no patients of their own that day, and a single student for one who does.

The page also limits any single specialty to 40 hours. In a comprehensive course, that means a specialty office can add depth, but your core preceptor should be in general adult or older-adult primary care. The full criteria are on preceptor requirements.

Timing the last 150 hours

Your final term works under the same calendar rules as the others, with less room for error. Without coordinator permission, nothing counts before the term's first day, and the final hour has to land by the closing date: December 13 in Fall 2026, May 9 in Spring 2027. Onboarding and a first meeting with the preceptor can happen before the term begins.

At 10 hours a week across 15 weeks, a missed week is easy to fall behind on and hard to recover in December or May. Tell your preceptor and practicum faculty about any absence along with a makeup plan; unreported missed hours count as a conduct failure that can bring an F regardless of other grades.

Log each practicum day in Typhon no later than 15 days afterward, and expect your preceptor's final evaluation to arrive through Typhon near the end. More on the calendar: semester rules.
