Each site may bring its own onboarding, such as record-access training, confidentiality training and a dress code. Kent State allows onboarding before the term, so finish it ahead of your first specialty day rather than losing clinic time to it.

Ask your practicum faculty early how evaluations work when your hours are split. Kent State's guidebook describes the preceptor submitting a final evaluation in Typhon; with a primary care base and one or two specialty preceptors, confirm who completes it and when.

A cardiology preceptor can add valuable hours, but most of the 150 will likely come from primary care, so confirm the split with your practicum faculty.

Can a physician assistant precept my chronic illness hours?

The AGPCNP rotation page allows a physician assistant or clinical nurse specialist to precept with faculty approval. The FNP rotation page names FNPs, adult-gerontology NPs and physicians. If a PA is your best option for a specialty block, raise it with your practicum faculty before you schedule, since they and your coordinator approve every preceptor.
