NURS 60126 is FNP/AG NP Role and Procedures, the lecture the acute care concentration takes with NURS 61392. Kent State's three-year repeat rule links it to this practicum as well, so if you are returning from a break, ask your coordinator which lecture your plan attaches to NURS 61892. Short course, full set of rules
Seventy-five hours can look like an afterthought beside the 150-hour courses on either side of it. Kent State treats it like any other graduate practicum. You still need a preceptor approved by practicum faculty and your coordinator, a site the College of Nursing has an affiliation agreement with, an unbroken compliance record, and Typhon time and case logs entered within 15 days of each clinical day.
The short total makes scheduling easier, but the preceptor still has to commit for the whole term. A preceptor who can offer only a few scattered dates leaves little room if one of them is canceled late in the semester.
Whether you can return to the preceptor you had in NURS 61292 is a question for your practicum faculty, who approve every placement. They weigh the course objectives on Kent State's clinical rotation description page, so bring those objectives into the conversation when you ask.
The 16 underserved-care hours
Kent State's AGPCNP rotation page says the summer practicum includes at least 16 hours of care for underserved patients. The page ties the rule to the summer term rather than to a course number, so check your syllabus and GPS plan to see whether NURS 61892 is your summer practicum and whether the requirement sits with it.
Kent State's public pages do not define which sites count as underserved care. Ask your practicum faculty before you book those hours, and ask whether the 16 hours can come from a second site while the rest stay with your main preceptor. A second site needs its own approval and its own affiliation agreement.
The underserved-care wording appears on the AGPCNP rotation page. FNP students should read their own syllabus for any matching requirement before assuming it does or does not apply.
Schedule the 16 underserved-care hours early in the term, so a cancellation still leaves time to rebook before the semester closes.
Preceptors for a role-focused practicum
The preceptor pool is the same one you drew from for Primary Care I. On the FNP side, that means family NPs, adult-gerontology NPs and physicians in adult or family practice. On the AGPCNP side, it means NPs or physicians from long-term care, express care, internal medicine or general primary care, plus clinical nurse specialists and physician assistants once faculty approve.
Because this course centers on the nurse practitioner role, an NP preceptor lets you watch that role up close: how they structure visits, document, consult and follow up. Kent State's pages accept physicians too, so treat an NP as a strong preference rather than a rule.
The one-year experience rule, licensure and employer sign-off all still apply. Any specialty preceptor needs faculty approval, and the AGPCNP page limits a single specialty to 40 hours. The whole list is on preceptor requirements.
Summer, fall or spring: timing the course
Graduate practicum courses carry Kent State's Practical Experience schedule type. In summer 2026 that session lasted 13 weeks, from May 11 through August 9, so 75 hours worked out to just under 6 hours a week by simple division. In a 15-week fall or spring term the figure is 5.
The fall 2026 term meets from August 24 until December 13, and the spring 2027 term from January 19 until May 9. Your hours sit inside those dates: no start before the first day without your coordinator's approval, and nothing after the last day. Not this course. The AGACNP concentration pairs NURS 60126 FNP/AG NP Role and Procedures with NURS 61392, its second acute care practicum, which carries 150 hours with hospital-based preceptors. NURS 61892 is not part of the acute care plan; that four-course sequence is laid out on AGACNP practicums.
What if my NURS 61892 preceptor cancels near the end of the term?
