This is the fifth and last practicum in the Family NP sequence, after NURS 61292, NURS 61692, NURS 61892 and NURS 62292. By the time you reach it, you have worked with adults, children and chronically ill patients in separate courses. NURS 63292 asks you to bring those populations together in family practice.

That 675 figure is our addition of Kent State's course descriptions, and it overshoots the catalog's MSN graduation rule, which asks for 300-600 hours by concentration. What across the lifespan means for your preceptor
Kent State's FNP rotation page is open to family NPs, adult-gerontology NPs and physicians who practice adult and family medicine. For this course, the practice's patient mix matters as much as the preceptor's title. A family practice that sees children, adults and older adults on the same schedule fits the lifespan goal in one place.
An adult-gerontology NP is an accepted FNP preceptor, but their population is adults and older adults. If your main preceptor is an AGNP or an internist, plan on a second site for younger patients. The lecture's content on reproductive-age women's health and family counseling is another reason to prefer a practice with a broad family panel.

When a second site makes sense
The rotation page's own wording, that this practicum may need a second site to cover all ages, gives you room to combine settings. One workable shape is an adult-heavy primary care base paired with a pediatric office for the younger patients. Every added site brings its own checks. It must be covered by an affiliation agreement with the College of Nursing (the college handles that paperwork with the agency), approved by practicum faculty and your coordinator, and cleared through the agency's onboarding. Finishing on time in your final term
Kent State's handbook leaves no wiggle room here: practicum experiences finish on or before the semester's final day. For a Fall 2026 finish that is December 13; for Spring 2027 it is May 9. With graduation depending on this course, build a buffer of spare clinic days into the schedule rather than planning to finish in the final week.
Keep Typhon current as you go. Each practicum day's time and case entries are due within a 15-day window. Near the finish, your preceptor files a final evaluation of you in Typhon, and you rate both the preceptor and the site. After the last practicum: certification and licensure
Finishing NURS 63292 puts the national FNP certification exams, offered by ANCC and AANP, within reach. By Kent State's own description, its APRN concentrations prepare graduates to sit for national certification and to seek APRN licensure in Ohio, and your concentration coordinator handles the college's side of the certification and licensure forms. Anyone hoping to practice beyond Ohio should check Kent State's licensure disclosures before the last term begins. For the MSN NP concentrations, the college lists California, New York and American Samoa as places where the program falls short of licensure rules; for the NP certificates, Arkansas and New Hampshire join that list. Can my NURS 61692 pediatric preceptor also cover part of NURS 63292?
