Count the real gap first

Start with Typhon rather than memory. Kent State counts what is in your time and case logs, and each practicum day is due there within 15 days. Days you worked but never entered are the first hours to recover. Anything older than the 15-day window deserves a note to your practicum faculty before you add it, not a quiet late entry.

Next, set your logged total against the course's hours. The catalog attaches 75 practicum hours to each credit, so a 1-credit course such as NURS 61892 carries 75 and a 2-credit course 150. Divide what remains by the weeks left. Sixty hours with four weeks to go means 15 a week, half again the 10-hour pace a 2-credit practicum assumes. Ways to close the gap before the last day

Options that stay inside Kent State's rules

• More time with your current preceptor. Their schedule sets yours, so ask about added days or longer shifts. AGACNP guidance already sets a floor of 16 to 20 weekly hours, grouped on consecutive days when the unit permits.
• A second preceptor at the same agency. The affiliation agreement is already in place, which removes the slowest step. Faculty still approve the added preceptor.
• A second site. This works only if the facility is covered by a College of Nursing affiliation agreement or the college can arrange one in time, and the agency's onboarding has to come first.
• Specialty hours, within limits. AGPCNP rules cap any one specialty at 40 hours, and faculty approve each specialty preceptor. FNP specialty blocks such as cardiology or endocrinology run about 35 to 40 hours.

Every added hour needs a current compliance record. If the TB test or flu vaccine lapses in the final weeks, no hours count until it is renewed. Report absences and your makeup plan to both preceptor and faculty, since missed hours without notice can bring an F under the practicum conduct standards.

Plan the next term before this one ends

When hours spill over, the next practicum usually shifts as well, because Kent State practicums pair with co-requisite lectures and follow a set order. Graduate registration for Spring 2027 opens October 5, 2026, and summer registration opens February 15, 2027.

Secure the next preceptor now. Kent State lets you meet a preceptor and finish agency onboarding before the semester, so a confirmed placement can log hours from the new term's first day. When an Incomplete means finishing one course while the next begins, tell each preceptor about the other so the combined weekly hours stay realistic.
