Kent State nursing from Indiana: two programs open online
Kent State approves Indiana residents for two online nursing programs: the post-MSN DNP and the RN-to-BSN. The fully online MSN concentrations, the PMHNP and WHNP among them, are left off Indiana's row, even though Kent State's licensure disclosure marks every listed program MEETS there. Of the seven program lists on Kent State's approved-states page, Indiana appears on the DNP and RN-to-BSN lists only. Every state's lists are on approved states.

A MEETS result does not open enrollment. Kent State gives no Indiana-specific reason for leaving the MSN concentrations off, beyond a general warning that state laws can rule practicum courses out. Program pages also still treat APRN licensure outside Ohio as undetermined, so have Kent State confirm any disclosure result.
If you want a Kent State MSN and live in Indiana
On the current list, the five fully online MSN concentrations and their certificates are closed to Indiana residents. The hybrid trio, FNP, AGPCNP and AGACNP, is handled differently again: part of each program meets at the Kent Campus, no state list covers them, and Indiana eligibility is unpublished, so put the question to student services before applying.
Ask the same office about the BSN-to-DNP. Its Practice Leadership route passes through an MSN APRN concentration first, and Indiana's approval names the post-MSN DNP, not those MSN concentrations. Practicum in Indiana for DNP and RN-to-BSN students
Indiana's nursing board, part of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, accredits in-state programs that lead to initial RN or LPN licensure. It says outright that RN-to-BSN and graduate programs are not ones it reviews or accredits, and 848 IAC 1-2-4, the eligible-program rule, is written for pre-licensure RN and PN schools alone. We found no step requiring an out-of-state RN-to-BSN or graduate school to register before sending students to Indiana sites.
Kent State's DNP FAQ lets the scholarly project run in your home state under your APRN licensure there, with the preceptor search primarily yours and faculty behind you. RN-to-BSN clinical work sits in NURS 43001, and an Indiana site may ask for a background check or the immunization form, which Kent State requires only when a site does. Either way, no hours count until the college has an affiliation agreement with the site; arranging it is the college's job.
Indiana practice rules, systems and your license
Indiana NPs, rated reduced practice by the AANP, work under a regulated physician collaboration for at least one part of their practice. Parkview Health, Franciscan Health, Community Health Network, Ascension St. Vincent and IU Health are among the big systems, spread across Indianapolis-Carmel-Greenwood, Fort Wayne, the roughly 729,000 Hoosiers in the Chicago metro and the Indiana slice of the Louisville metro. They mark where preceptors practice, not sites committed to Kent State. No Indiana preceptor incentive is on record.
Kent State's license rule ties you to home: an unrestricted RN license for Indiana if you live and train in Indiana (details). Indiana's multistate licensing under the Nurse Licensure Compact dates from July 1, 2020, while the APRN Compact has no Indiana enactment.

Can I do Kent State's online PMHNP from Indiana?
Not on the current list. Indiana is missing from Kent State's PMHNP approved states, though the NP licensure row reads MEETS for Indiana; the disclosure speaks to licensure, not enrollment. The approved-states page carries no revision date, so recheck it and ask student services for the current position before you apply.
Can I take the Kent State FNP while living in Indiana?
Kent State publishes no answer. Its three hybrid NP programs include required Kent Campus sessions and sit on no state's enrollment list. The NP licensure row reads MEETS for Indiana, but that addresses licensure only. Ask student services about your eligibility, and where your practicum would happen, before applying.
Does Indiana have to approve Kent State's DNP before my project hours?
Indiana's nursing board says it neither reviews nor accredits graduate programs, and we found nothing requiring an out-of-state graduate school to clear its Indiana placements with the board. Kent State, a SARA member since 2015, logs every out-of-state placement with NC-SARA (clinicals outside Ohio). Your project site still needs an affiliation agreement with the college.
My Kent State MSN is underway, but I'm relocating to Indiana. Now what?
Report it to Kent State's student services office at once. Kent State requires that, and its approved-states page cautions that state laws can block practicum courses. Indiana is off the fully online MSN lists, so whether and how you continue is Kent State's decision. Hold off on preceptor outreach until then.
