Arkansas nurses in Kent State's online programs
Arkansas is approved for three Kent State online programs, none of them an APRN track: the MSN in Nurse Educator and the MSN in Nursing Administration and Health Systems Leadership (each with its certificate), plus the RN-to-BSN. The PMHNP, WHNP, AGCNS and DNP are not listed here. Kent State's licensure pages also disagree about the APRN certificates in Arkansas, so read that part first.

Kent State's catalog calls the Nurse Educator and NAHSL credentials optional and required in no state, which is why they have no licensure row. The whole list, state by state, is on Kent State's approved states.
The certificate puzzle in Arkansas
Arkansas is one of only two states, with New Hampshire, where Kent State's MSN NP concentrations MEET but the matching post-master's certificates DO NOT MEET. The AGCNS certificate is marked the same way. Kent State gives no reason for the split, and it matters most to a certificate student who plans to seek APRN licensure in Arkansas.
A second Kent State page cannot settle it. The state-by-state licensure listing has an Arkansas entry whose text names Alabama, so it cannot be relied on, and the APRN program pages still describe the question as undetermined for states outside Ohio. Get a written answer from the Office of Student Services before you enroll in a certificate; the options are laid out on post-master's certificates.
Educator and leadership practicums in Arkansas
Nurse Educator students pair NURS 67092, a clinical specialty practicum, with NURS 60592 in the educator role, mentored by a seasoned educator working in academic teaching or staff development. The program page gives 300 hours, half in the clinical area and half in the role, while a rotation page says 180, so let your syllabus and coordinator decide which applies.
The NAHSL preceptor should hold a master's degree, an MSN preferred, and sit one or two rungs above your current job, and Kent State encourages looking beyond your own unit or employer. Around Little Rock, students often start with UAMS Health, Baptist Health, CHI St. Vincent and Arkansas Children's; in the northwest and Fort Smith, Mercy runs hospitals in both. What the Arkansas board asks of outside programs
Nothing we found in Arkansas's nursing rules asks an outside school for permission before its students do clinical hours there, a reading the ASBN itself has not confirmed. The prelicensure standards in 17 CAR Part 125 speak to out-of-state schools only when one wants to launch a new program inside Arkansas. Kent State's SARA membership covers the online program itself, not board questions, and the College of Nursing must be told the state of each field placement outside Ohio.
Arkansas lands in AANP's reduced practice group. Arkansas NPs work under a physician agreement that the state regulates, and a handful of medications are off-limits to them without a physician protocol.
Your license for Arkansas practicum
The Nurse Licensure Compact is written into Arkansas's Nurse Practice Act, and the state has used it since January 19, 2018; the APRN Compact is not law here. Kent State's rule looks at your address: with Arkansas as home and practicum state, your unrestricted Arkansas license is the one on file, and RN license for practicum covers when proof is due.

Questions Kent State students ask
Is the Kent State PMHNP an option for Arkansas residents?
Not at present. Arkansas is absent from the PMHNP list, which has 14 states, and from the WHNP and AGCNS lists too. The PMHNP certificate is no workaround: Kent State's program listing marks NP certificates DOES NOT MEET here. The Office of Student Services can confirm whether either has changed.
Is the Kent State Nurse Educator MSN a licensure program in Arkansas?
No. Kent State's catalog treats both credentials as optional, required by no state, so neither appears on the licensure disclosure. What matters for an Arkansas resident is the enrollment list, where both are approved, and an RN license that matches your practicum state.
If I move from Arkansas to a neighboring state, does my program follow me?
It depends on the state and program. Texas is listed for the WHNP, Nurse Educator and RN-to-BSN but not NAHSL; Mississippi is on every list; Missouri and Oklahoma are listed for the RN-to-BSN only. Kent State decides whether you can continue, so check in with the Office of Student Services before packing.
Does the Arkansas board need to approve my Kent State practicum site?
No Arkansas rule requiring board approval for an outside program's clinical-only placements was found, though that reading has not been confirmed with the board. Kent State's own gates still apply: the facility must be under an affiliation agreement with Kent State's nursing college, and your practicum faculty and coordinator must approve the preceptor.
