Kent State nursing for Arizona residents
One Kent State nursing program enrolls online from Arizona: the RN-to-BSN. Everything above the bachelor's level, from MSN concentrations to certificates to the DNP, is absent from Arizona's row, even though Kent State's licensure disclosure says its APRN programs meet Arizona's requirements. Graduate students who relocate here also face the Arizona State Board of Nursing, which must approve an out-of-state APRN program before its students start clinicals.

Taking the RN-to-BSN from an Arizona address
Kent State's online RN-to-BSN admits nurses licensed in the state where their practica will happen, so an Arizona RN living in Tucson or Prescott fits the rule. The hands-on part of the degree lives in NURS 43001 Health Promotion, whose schedule includes clinical laboratory time, and in the NURS 47099 capstone project. For fall 2026 Kent State lists starts on August 24 and November 11, and for spring 2027 on January 19 and March 29.
Background checks and the immunization form apply only when a site asks for them, you carry your own health insurance, and you follow the agency's uniform rules. Kent State leaves unpublished who arranges the NURS 43001 site, so raise it with your course faculty in your first weeks. The RN-to-BSN guide covers the whole program.
Arizona screens APRN programs, not only students
Graduate students who move here meet a board that vets the school itself. AZBN oversees pre-licensure and APRN education, and under its APRN advisory opinion, last revised in November 2020, an outside APRN program needs the board's approval before even one of its students begins clinical work in Arizona. The review is lighter for a track its own state's board already approves, at a school holding national accreditation in good standing. Approval brings lasting duties: tracking the licenses of everyone from the program director to each student, logging placements, and answering yearly surveys or audits.
Preceptors face an Arizona test as well. An APRN precepting here holds Arizona APRN certification on top of a clean RN license that is either Arizona's or multistate, and a physician precepting here needs a clean Arizona medical license. None of this language mentions RN-BSN programs.
Full practice, big systems and a dormant grant
Arizona is full practice in AANP's terms. Most large systems sit in the Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler metro, home to over five million: Banner Health, whose academic arm is Banner - University Medicine; HonorHealth, based in Scottsdale; the pediatric system Phoenix Children's; and the Arizona campus of Mayo Clinic. TMC Health anchors Tucson. They map a search; none is a site committed to Kent State students.
On paper, Arizona supports unpaid preceptors of graduate students, APRN students among them, through a grant under A.R.S. 36-1806. In practice, the Joint Legislative Budget Committee's fiscal 2027 report funds it in neither 2026 nor 2027, so treat it as dormant.
Licensing in a compact state
Arizona's compact membership dates to January 19, 2018, while the APRN Compact has no Arizona law behind it. Kent State's check is simple to state: your RN license must be unrestricted and must match the state you call home and train in, confirmed at admission and again at each renewal. Can I earn Kent State's online MSN while living in Phoenix?
Arizona's row on Kent State's enrollment page has a single entry, the RN-to-BSN. That leaves out the online PMHNP, WHNP, AGCNS, Nurse Educator and NAHSL for anyone with an Arizona address, along with the post-master's DNP. Confirm with the Office of Student Services that nothing has changed before you apply.
Does Arizona's board have to approve Kent State's RN-to-BSN clinical work?
AZBN's approval rule for outside programs names pre-licensure and APRN programs, and its APRN advisory opinion does not address RN-BSN programs. Kent State's approved-states listing is the rule that governs your enrollment, and your course faculty can tell you what the NURS 43001 site needs.
Is Kent State's FNP open to Arizona residents?
No answer is published. Kent State's three hybrid NP tracks (FNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP) need some time in Kent and are left off the enrollment page entirely. For Arizona the disclosure shows MEETS for all three, which is a statement about licensing a graduate. The enrollment question goes to the Office of Student Services.
What if I move to Arizona during a Kent State MSN or DNP?
Kent State's rule for admitted online students is to flag any move immediately, and the Office of Student Services is where that report goes. Arizona is not on your program's list, and AZBN approval would have to precede any clinicals, so continuing is Kent State's decision. A move to neighboring California or Colorado raises different questions.
