Connecticut is on every Kent State online nursing list
Connecticut residents can enroll in every program on Kent State's approved-states page, from the RN-to-BSN through five online MSN concentrations (Nurse Educator, NAHSL, AGCNS, PMHNP and WHNP) and their certificates to the post-master's DNP. The licensure disclosure marks Connecticut as MEETS on every row. What remains is practicum: in-person preceptors near Hartford, New Haven or Fairfield County who satisfy Kent State's rules.

Connecticut's entries, program by program
Connecticut is one of 14 states, Ohio included, named on all seven of Kent State's enrollment lists. The hybrid NP tracks are the exception, as they are everywhere.

Each program's full state list is on Kent State's approved states. The FNP, AGPCNP and AGACNP include some classes in Kent, and their eligibility outside Ohio has not been published; ask the Office of Student Services. Unlike the table, the college's program pages still call licensure outside Ohio undecided, so get the MEETS result confirmed.
How Connecticut treats out-of-state programs
Connecticut does not run its nursing board as a stand-alone agency: the Board of Examiners for Nursing sits within the Department of Public Health. Its regulations take a light touch with schools from elsewhere. Section 20-90-59 treats another state's nursing program as approved once three conditions hold (home-board approval, a curriculum that satisfies Connecticut's RN rule, and home licensure standards equal to or above Connecticut's), and it names no application or notice.
These rules govern programs leading to a first license and say nothing about RN-to-BSN, master's or doctoral study. Where they do reach, an outside school using a Connecticut agency keeps to written contracts and fixed ratios, including two students at most per preceptor and sixteen precepted students per faculty member. Kent State's guidance points the same way: two students at most per preceptor, and a single student when the preceptor is carrying their own patient load.
Practicum around Hartford, New Haven and Fairfield County
Connecticut's full practice status comes with a waiting period. AANP notes that NPs reach independence only after three years and 2,000 hours practicing in collaboration with a physician, so plenty of Connecticut NPs are partway through it. That need not rule anyone out, since Kent State asks graduate preceptors for a year of practice and accepts physicians too.
Hartford's metro, roughly 1.17 million people, is the state's biggest; Fairfield County's Bridgeport-Stamford-Danbury area, New Haven and Waterbury-Shelton follow. Search lists here tend to open with Yale New Haven Health, Hartford HealthCare and UConn Health, then Trinity Health Of New England. In the western corner, Danbury Hospital and the other former Nuvance hospitals now belong to New York-based Northwell Health. None is committed to Kent State students. PMHNP students should read the concentration's preceptor rules on the PMHNP page before approaching anyone.
Connecticut's new compact status
Since October 1, 2025, Connecticut has been a compact state, which lets a nurse practice there on either a Connecticut license or the multistate license issued by the nurse's own compact home state. No APRN Compact law exists in Connecticut.
Kent State layers its own test on top: the license must be unrestricted and must come from your state of residence and training, and student services checks it when you are admitted and at every renewal. Details are on RN license for practicum.

Can I study Kent State's online PMHNP while living in Connecticut?
Yes. The PMHNP enrolls from 14 states and Connecticut is among them; the MSN NP disclosure row also shows MEETS here. Practicum runs in person in Connecticut under your RN license, with the preceptor sequence Kent State sets for the concentration, including the rule that your own workplace cannot be a PMHNP site.
Does Connecticut have to approve Kent State before my clinicals?
Connecticut's regulations treat an out-of-state nursing program as approved when its home board approves it and a few standards line up, with no separate filing stated, and they speak to programs that lead to a first license. Your hours still need a signed College of Nursing affiliation agreement with the agency, and setting one up is the college's job, not yours.
What if I move from Connecticut to New York or Massachusetts?
Both change the picture. New York is on none of Kent State's online lists, and every licensure row marks it DOES NOT MEET. Massachusetts is listed for the RN-to-BSN only. Tell the Office of Student Services before any move, because Kent State decides whether your program can continue in the new state.
Can a Connecticut NP in their first years precept me?
Kent State's bar for graduate preceptors is a clean, active license and certification, twelve-plus months of clinical practice, and the employer's sign-off. A Connecticut NP still inside the three-year collaborative period can clear it if the dates line up. The final say on each preceptor belongs to your concentration coordinator and practicum faculty.
