Kent State online nursing and Georgia: where things stand
Georgia does not appear anywhere on Kent State's approved-states page, which means a nurse who lives there cannot currently enroll in the online RN-to-BSN, MSN concentrations, certificates or post-master's DNP. Kent State's licensure disclosure still rates its APRN programs as MEETS for Georgia, which mainly helps a graduate who studies from a listed state and settles in Georgia later.

Kent State's hybrid NP tracks meet partly on the Kent Campus, and no out-of-state eligibility has been posted for them; the Office of Student Services is the one to ask. Because the APRN concentration pages still describe Kent State's out-of-Ohio licensure answer as pending, double-check those MEETS entries with Kent State. How Georgia's board handles students from other states
Georgia's Board of Nursing, part of the Secretary of State's office, keeps post-licensure education outside its approval process. A nursing school elsewhere needs no Board sign-off before its RN-to-BSN, MSN or NP students train in Georgia; the Board regulates licenses instead.
Its nursing education page spells out who needs what. Georgia residents in outside programs who log clinical hours in Georgia must hold either a Georgia-issued RN license or a compact license from a different member state. Faculty and preceptors who teach there, even remotely, meet that same standard. For APRN programs, the nurse leading clinical instruction must hold Georgia APRN authorization. Pre-licensure students face a firmer line, since the Board approves no outside or online pre-licensure program for Georgia clinicals, though Kent State's BSN clinicals are arranged in Ohio anyway.
Restricted practice and Georgia's preceptor tax credit
AANP lists Georgia among restricted practice states. NPs need a physician's delegation or supervision, and their authority over Schedule II drugs is narrower, so a Georgia NP preceptor teaches within that arrangement.
Most searches start in metro Atlanta, about 6.5 million people, then move to Savannah, Augusta or Columbus; Grady, Northside, Wellstar, Piedmont and Emory are the big system names. These are illustrations of where Georgia NP students search, not sites set up for Kent State, and any site Kent State uses must carry a College of Nursing agreement.
Georgia's Preceptor Tax Incentive Program (PTIP) gives a state tax credit to preceptors of unpaid, community-based rotations, but only for students of Georgia-based medical, dental, NP or PA schools. Hosting a Kent State student would not qualify.
Licenses for Georgia clinical hours
Georgia's multistate licensing started January 19, 2018; Ohio's arrived in January 2023. Kent State ties your license to your home and practicum state, which for a Georgia resident are the same place, and its advising office verifies that license at admission and each time it renews, so ask which Georgia-valid license it will record. Georgia has not adopted the APRN Compact, which needs seven states to operate; so far only Utah, Wyoming, Delaware and the two Dakotas have signed on. Questions Kent State students ask
Is the Kent State PMHNP available to someone living in Georgia?
Not under the current list. Kent State's PMHNP list names 14 states, none of them Georgia, and the WHNP, AGCNS, educator, leadership, doctoral and RN-to-BSN lists skip Georgia too. The disclosure still rates the MSN PMHNP as meeting Georgia's educational requirements, useful to a graduate who later moves there.
Would a Georgia preceptor earn the PTIP tax credit for a Kent State student?
Not under the program's published terms, which limit the credit to preceptors of students at Georgia-based schools. A Kent State student comes from an Ohio program, so a Georgia preceptor's reasons to say yes come from elsewhere, including the continuing education Kent State offers its preceptors through PreceptED.
Does Georgia's Board of Nursing have to approve Kent State before clinicals in Georgia?
Because Georgia's Board leaves post-licensure and APRN programs out of its approval work, an MSN or DNP clinical involves no Board filing. Kent State still decides whether a practicum can happen in Georgia, and Georgia is missing from its approved-states page.
Is Kent State's FNP open to Georgia residents?
Kent State has not published an answer. The FNP, like the AGPCNP and AGACNP, blends online courses with time on the Kent Campus, and no state appears beside it on the approved-states page. Ask the Office of Student Services first, and save their written answer.
