Kent State's handbook gives final approval of each preceptor and site to practicum faculty and the concentration coordinator. What they weigh is published: the preceptor's role, a license and certification that are active and unrestricted, one year or more in clinical practice, the employer's sign-off and, on APRN rotations, twelve months in the same population focus and role. Kent State also asks each preceptor for a current CV, which goes to the student's graduate faculty member.

Kent State's practicum year has fixed markers: a required orientation that comes four to six months ahead of the first practicum, full compliance before you can register for it, hours that start no earlier than the semester's first day without coordinator approval and finish by its last, and Typhon logs within 15 days of each practicum day.
