These terms apply when you use this site or ask Kent State Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your Kent State program's own requirements.

The service
Kent State Preceptor is an independent placement service for Kent State University nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical sites that fit a student's Kent State course, prepare preceptor and site information for the student to bring to their Kent State practicum faculty and concentration coordinator, and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Kent State University does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official Kent State statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Kent State Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
Kent State's role and final approval
Kent State's practicum faculty and concentration coordinators give the final approval of every preceptor and practicum site its graduate students use, and practicum hours count only at agencies with a College of Nursing affiliation agreement, which the college arranges. Kent State's catalog, program pages, student handbooks, course syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from Kent State's current requirements, Kent State's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that Kent State will approve a site or preceptor we identify, that an affiliation agreement will be in place by a particular date, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after Kent State's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting Kent State's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- meeting the Clinical Compliance Policy and submitting what Kent State asks for on time, including Typhon time and case logs within Kent State's deadline;
- holding an active, unrestricted RN license for the state where you do your practicum;
- completing background checks, drug screens, health clearance, immunizations and any site requirements before patient contact;
- logging hours accurately and following each agency's rules;
- staying in contact with your practicum faculty and concentration coordinator;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and Kent State's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. Kent State's Clinical Compliance Policy places compliance costs on the student.

They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and Kent State's rules can change. Check your syllabus, your student handbook, your practicum faculty and your concentration coordinator before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your enquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Kent State Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of Kent State, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.
